The earlier rain has cleared away for now but at point in time during this evening, we had a really torrential downpour which resulted in a total of 8.6 mm of rain being recorded in just a single hour at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
So far as at 10pm tonight, this particular event has resulted in a total of 14.2 mm of rain being recorded for today since 9am this morning at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 18.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes today, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations by quite a considerable amount, and the wettest day of this winter so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh by quite a considerable amount.
It is still very windy as well with today's maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching 39.1mph from the SW.
In addition to that, the temperatures are also continuing to rise as tonight has gone on, so the temperature at 10pm tonight was now up to a mild 9°C here in Edinburgh.
