Mainly sunny with well scattered cumulus, but the current 9.0 c is feeling quite chilly in a mod N breeze.

Just about scraped a slight overnight frost with a min of 2.3 c at 1 am.

Yesterday was our sunniest day of this month so far with a total of 4.7 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Sadly though, we won't be saying the same thing about today. Today started off on a fairly bright note with an official air frost at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, but this was no more than a ground frost in other parts of the city and even then, there was already a lot of cloud around.

As today has gone on, that cloud has become more extensive with more of a wind around as well. As a result of that, it didn't take long for the frost to quickly disappear as our more typical winter borefest set in once again.

So far as at 1pm this afternoon, this has resulted in a total of 1.2 hours of sunshine being recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but with nothing at all in that department for the last two hours.

In addition to that, it isn't even the least bit cold for this time of the year now and so, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was around 6°C here in Edinburgh.

Beautiful mid-winter day here. Max temp so far 0.8c, there's still pockets of frost on the ground, and the fog hasn't lifted. Never got properly light.

Apart from half a foot of snow lying on the ground, what more can one ask for in winter?

Creeping up slowly again to 1045.3mb.
When you actually watch the reading 'live' it's surprising how it moves up and down a point or two from minute to minute

It’s been clear and sunny all day but frost hasn’t thawed from the shaded part of our lawn.

A beautiful clear bright day - but frost has persisted throughout in the shade, on roads and in the garden - where at 16.00 hrs half is green and half white.

Nice, usable day today...wall to wall sunshine..max of 2.7c...with frost persisting in the shade of the garden and north facing roofs. It's what a typical winters day should be..

There's frost re-forming and it feels far colder than the 2°C the thermo is saying. I suppose air that has been forced down is already lacking in moisture; will just get drier under compression. Desert-like temperature drops?

Temperatures dropped like a stone again this evening just after dusk.

At Benson the temperature went from 4.6C at 1600 to -1.3C at 1700.

Thick fog reforming here.

Absolutely horrible on the M60 currently - particularly bad around Worsley and Salford, couldn’t see a thing!
