Finally at long last, we have a change from the usual borefest here in Edinburgh as this morning has started off on a cold and frosty note with an official air frost being recorded at all three of my local stations.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was -3.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and -2.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, with Edinburgh Airport getting down to -4°C.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was between -4°C and -2°C here in Edinburgh under clear skies.

Sadly, once again today cannot be classed as a totally rain-free day after 1.6 mm fell in the small hours last night. 

Also no frost observed this morning since the min was 4.8 c at 12.30 am.

Here in north Northumberland a clear sunny day with a light breeze has given way to calm clear evening. Temp has dropped from a high around 4 C to just below freezing.
