In contrast to recent mornings, this morning has got off to a dull, overcast, dreary, depressing and soul destroying note after some heavy rain during the night which was brought about by ex-Hurricane Lorenzo.

That particular event over the course of last night and the early hours of this morning produced a total of 9.4 mm of rain at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 9.4 mm of rain at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

With all of that going on, last night was much milder than the two nights which preceded it. This means that last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 7.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, whereas last night's lowest half-hourly temperature reading at Edinburgh Airport (which I have taken from the wundergound site) was 8°C.

That has also resulted in this morning being milder than of late and so, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 10°C here in Edinburgh.

After a blustery damp night, I woke up at 8 am to hazy sunshine but sadly the brightness gave away to overcast skies and occasional drizzle/light rain by the middle of the morning onward.

The mod W breeze is making the current 14.5 c & 81% h feel rather cold and clammy despite the current setup's tropical origins.

Edit: Oh, by the way, 4.4 mm of rain so far today.

At long last, the Sun has finally come out here in Edinburgh and although there is still quite a keen wind coming in from off the North Sea, today is slightly warmer than yesterday with a temperature of around 12°C here in Edinburgh as at 2pm this afternoon.

Another chilly damp day with high just 10.9C an hour ago.
That's the highest this month so far though!
About 12mm of rain overnight, very little wind here.

The sun finally broke through a couple of hours ago and was good enough to warm up my famed west-facing hobby room before sundown, thus negated the need to have the heating on just yet.

As it turned out, the Sun wasn't out for long here earlier on and it didn't take long for the rest of the day to descend into yet another dull and overcast borefest with yet more constant grey skies, and with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

In fact, the Sun wasn't even out for long enough for that to actually register at Edinburgh Gogarbank where as a result, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today in the end.

That makes today our first completely sunless day of this month and our fifth sunless day of this autumn.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 12.4°C. As a result of it still being overcast though, the temperatures are refusing to drop just now and so, the temperature at 10pm tonight was around 11°C which is still not lower than today's maximum temperature.
