Not much happening here during today apart from the usual bit of cloud and some sunshine at times which is a bit boring and repetitive as far as I'm concerned. However, a total of 7.1 hours of sunshine was recorded for today in the end at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That has set quite a good standard for both this month and this autumn.
It is now getting darker at nights very quickly and by the end of this month, we will have passed the Autumn Equinox with more darkness than daylight in any given day. This means that if this month is to go down as being sunnier than average, it is really just now that we want to be getting the really big sunshine totals which will contribute towards that, so this has been quite a decent start on that front.
Having said that though, it has now clouded over again and this evening has now descended into yet another dull and overcast borefest with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.
Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 17.5°C which is a bit cooler than of late which around a month or so ago, would have been seen as rather disappointing for this time of the year. Now that we are into autumn though, that is no longer the case and in fact, there isn't really anything which is all that autumnal about those sorts of temperatures. Having said that though, it is still very early days and that is a least a step in the right direction as far as this autumn is concerned.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was around 12°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
