Looks like normal service has been resumed in this part of the world for now at least, as we have returned to being one of the most boring parts of the UK when it comes to our weather with all of the more "interesting" action happening elsewhere.

This is shown bu the fact that this morning has started off with a completely dull and overcast borefest with absolutely nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

Last night was the coolest night of this month so far as the overnight actual minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 8.1°C.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature from the hourly readings alone was 8.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 7am this morning was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Unbroken low cloud cover, intermittent SSW wind, raining moderately since 9.30am, intermittently to start with, now set in, 3.3mm accumulated so far.

15.2%C (minimum 11.3*C at 3.45am); 90%RH.

1012.2mb falling slowly.

With lots of fallen leaves from the trees, brought down by the lack of rain over the past month and the recent wind, and now the dampness, it is even smelling autumnal outside.

Has been raining off & on for the past couple of hours but only 2.2 mm so far to show for it. It's now all dull & gloomy that I've got lights on indoors.

16.5 c & 89% h but winds are lighter.

I just got back in from the town, still had shorts on with no socks but had a cardie on and I was sweating like a loon from the waist up but freezing cold from the waist down.

As at 1pm this afternoon, our rainfall and sunshine (at Edinburgh Gogarbank at least) totals for today continue to be stuck at zero, and all that we have just now is a continuation of that same old borefest which we were in this morning with yet more constant grey skies and with absolutely nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather, actually happening.

With the weather being a bit more interesting elsewhere (even if that isn't by all that much), this surely has to show once and for all, that Edinburgh is at the very least, one of the most locations in the UK on average when it comes to our weather (or rather, the lack of any sort of "weather") on this occasion.

In addition to that, the temperatures are also rising to rise here and remain stuck at a rather disappointing 16°C here in Edinburgh as at 1pm this afternoon.
