Over the last hour or so, it's been absolutely chucking it down with rain here in Edinburgh as this really miserable month of August in this part of the world goes on.

The result of this is that a total of 1.8 mm of rain has already been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 6am this morning along with 1.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which means that today will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh at 6am this morning was around 15°C.

1.8mm in an hour doesn't sound too bad.
3.5mm here around 5am, since then gradually increasing wind and a few spots. 13.8C
Most of the rain is well to the west just fragments racing through here

Well, that wasn't as bad as the 3.0 mm of rain which was recorded at that same station during the following hour after that.

Here in Edinburgh, the rain is still pelting down. It had become not quite so heavy for a while, but it has become almost torrential at the moment as I write.

As at 11am, a total of 10.8 mm of rain had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 13.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, and the data for the next couple of hours will probably show those totals to be quite a bit higher than that.

As this is happening, nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Furthermore, the temperatures are also refusing to rise here and with a brisk wind coming straight in from off the North Sea, it actually feels rather chilly here.

Meanwhile, the temperature is currently stuck at just a rather miserable 15°C here in Edinburgh just now.

Brightened up after a cloudy damp start where 5.2 mm of rain fell earlier this morning. Since the strong wind hasn't arrived here yet, the current 21.7 c & 89% are feeling rather muggy with a 20 c dp.
