After yesterday's massive deluge in this part of the world, it is nice to actually be able to start on a fairly dry note for a change and thankfully, the forecast for today isn't as bad.

I even managed to see quite a nice sunrise during this morning and at that point in time, it had looked as though we were actually going to go into a nice and sunny start to this morning.

However, that is usually always too much to ask for these days, and it wasn't long before it became much cloudier once again. In addition to that, it also looks as there must have still been the odd brief shower a while ago as a further 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, though with nothing at all in that department at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 12.6°C and the temperature at 7am this morning was around 13°C here in Edinburgh.

The dire, grey and depressing start to August continues with yet another dire, grey and depressing day.

Temperature failed to drop below 13.1C overnight and now 13.9C. NW'lies were never this grey and overcast in the past and used to give cool nights.

Even though today was supposed to be the best day of this week, it has still failed to stay completely dry here as there was a shower of rain around during this morning which appeared to linger for a while. However, the rainfall amounts from that have been very small and so at 12 noon, a total of just 0.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

As the morning has gone on, we have seen a bit more in the way of sunshine at times although a total of just 1.1 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon with all of that coming during the last hour or so.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was around 18°C here in Edinburgh.

Fair with sunny spells and partial cloud. Still feeling pleasantly warm at 21.7 c & 74h under a mod S breeze.

It did try to come over all cloudy not so long ago but the sun won out again.

Our weather has just reverted back to its more normal boring self because after a day which brought a fair amount of sunshine, this evening then descended into a grey and overcast borefest with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

In the end, a total of 3.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 21.7°C and the temperature at 10pm tonight was around 16°C here in Edinburgh.
