Looks like it's just me and MetO that are seeing the potential for storms in the output for next week.

Just had some big downpours this last hour. A shower a few minutes ago reached a peak intensity of 62mm/hr and that's over 32mm I've recorded today.

Torrential rain currently falling here in Hawick, and I'm almost certain that there was a flash of lightning a short time ago.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Pretty decent thunderstorm here earlier with over an inch of rain falling in a very short space of time. Still getting the odd low grumble. Hopefully this will clear the air a bit. It has been really horrible these last few weeks.

Thanks for posting - great footage. Manchester Airport reported an "FC" (funnel cloud) in it's OBS this afternoon as well.

That's some seriously heavy rain and its not moving very fast, and surprisingly little lightning - that said lightning & thunder here wasn't shown.

Nice little storm just passed over us here on the N Norfolk coast. Shame it’s not dark though, as quite a lot of lightning!

Those disturbances in the plume that were mentioned previously are now materialising onto the Fax charts for Tuesday overnight into Wednesday. Looks like a set of elevated fronts and trough push north out of France:

Storms possibly more widespread on Tuesday night:

May well be an overhang of crudvection for Wednesday after that, hence not wall-to-wall sunny skies in the forecast.

So later on today and more significantly overnight it looks like storms will get going over some parts of the UK. Initial storms late afternoon coming up from France will be elevated, so not prodigious rainmakers but plenty of CC lightning. Quite localised, so not everywhere will see one, main areas later this afternoon likely to be central S England and SW England.

Through the evening and overnight more organised surface based storms may also develop in Midlands & Wales moving NNE, these more likely to produce rain, hail and CG strikes. These storms likely to track into N. England overnight and into Scotland by morning. In the SE/EA some localised elevated storms possible overnight and into morning, but again not likely to be big rainmakers.
