Not much drop in 2.5 hours

Still 15.9C out in the suburbs... It almost has that lovely summer night feel to it. If only the dew points were a tad bit higher.

A warm night- min just below 15C and racing up now the clouds have broken. The last few days have been 21C+ after cooler nights. Will be interesting to see where we go with this.

I noticed yesterday that the apple tree in my garden is shedding its leaves, just as it did last August, due to the lack of water.  So we definitely need rainfall.

Here in Edinburgh, we've had a few fairly decent days since I was last on this forum with 13.4 hours of sunshine being recorded at Gogarbank during yesterday, and with a temperature of 19.4°C being recorded as yesterday's maximum temperature at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. In addition to that, Wednesday brought us the first record sunshine of the year at Edinburgh Gogarbank to have occurred after 9pm on any given evening which is now as late in the evening as we can possibly get that throughout the year.

That tells us that we are getting very close to the summer solstice now and although there has also been a lot of cloud around at times, there has been enough breaks in that cloud for the lingering twilight which we get at this time of the year, to be visible all the way through the night during a few recent nights.

Today isn't turning out to be so sunny though because after a fairly bright start to the day, it has now completely clouded over and so, a total of just 48 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 11am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 11am this morning was 12.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Rather cloudy and quite thick in places too, the sun is being very reluctant to show it's face so far today.

However, it is still dry and feeling balmy-like at 19.5 c & 68% h under the most lightest of NW breeze.

It's now turned in a rather damp and miserable afternoon within this final weekend of the meteorological spring with fairly light but persistent rain. The result of this is that today's sunshine total so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 3pm this afternoon remains stuck on the rather abysmal total of just 48 minutes of sunshine with nothing at all in that department since 10am this morning.

However, a total of just 0.4 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 3pm this afternoon along with 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

In addition to that, the temperatures have also been refusing to rise during today and so, the temperature at 2pm this afternoon was 12.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
