Yet another dire bleak and depressing day. Only now I'm 1000 miles south in Lake Garda, Northern Italy. Hasn't made the slightest difference to the weather which was revolting all the way down to Edinburgh yesterday and the exact same crud upon landing at Verona yesterday evening.

Today is unbelievably cold, windy and grey with drizzly rain and no sign of the sun. Only 14C. Horrific holiday weather for a location where the average high is 23C at this time of year. It has been a staggeringly awful May for Italy. Can imagine it's the coldest and dullest on record. Maxima running 5C below average in this area and sun will be nowhere near the 8 hour daily average.

While it is quite cloudy, the light level is quite strong (like being inside a photography soft light box) and thus the current 18 c & 60% h are feeling quite balmy under dead calm air. It does feel stuffy indoors even with windows open and no need for any heating, probably will get to be more so this afternoon when I do the roast.

Continuous hazy sunshine, with blobs of diffuse cumulus in almost every quarter. 19.2C and humid: sweating profusely whilst digging a new veg bed.

You know, I'm sure that no-one else other than Richard from Aberdeen could travel abroad somewhere and still find that he was never happy with the weather which he was experiencing, regardless of where he travelled to.

Anyway, it's not been as bad here today as it was yesterday and it has been been dry so far, although there has still been a lot of cloud around with the rather abysmal total of just 6 minutes of sunshine being recorded for the whole of today (and indeed, this entire weekend) so far as at 1pm this afternoon.

However, it is a bit warmer today with the temperature up to around 15°C as at 1pm this afternoon.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
