When I first woke up this morning, everything had looked quite promising to begin with as there was a lot of clear sky and only small amounts of cloud.

When I then got up not long afterwards though, I then looked out to see that it was raining outside with any clear sky only being to the east of here in the distance. Indeed, it is still raining here in Edinburgh just now as I write.

As for yesterday, a total of 2.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 2.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

I don't have all of the latest data for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and the data from SEPA only shows that it is would dry there up until 6am this morning. However, a total of 0.4 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7am this morning.

This shortage of available data for the botanic gardens in Edinburgh means that I can only report that last night's overnight minimum temperature was around 6°C and that the temperature at 7am this morning was around 8°C.

Mostly low cloud cover with occasional breaks; SW breeze, dry after a brief shower at about 7.30am which dampened the ground.

The rain has cleared away for now, and it has now become much brighter with some sunshine although a total of just 54 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

A total of 1.6 mm of rain has now also been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore, go down as another official rain day as a result) as at 12 noon, along with 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the wind is no longer coming straight in from off the North and because of that, it feels a bit warmer today so that the temperature at 12 noon was 14.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Turning out to be a lovely Spring-like day so far with plenty of sunshine thus making the current 14.7 c & 75% h feel pleasantly mild despite the brisk SW breeze.

Even the forecast accumulated rainfall associated with "Hannah" is looking disappointingly frugal for this neck of the woods.

For the third day out of four a fine day has given way to a foul evening  The only exception was Wednesday when it was horrible all day

After a max of 13.1C at 1pm it's now down to just 9.3C with useless spotty light rain. Yesterdays soggy evening couldn't even clock up 5mm and tonight will likely see even less.

Wind from the SE quarter which is a superfluous observation these days when it never comes from anywhere else

Overall, a rather disappointing day here in Edinburgh where it has been mostly cloudy with very little in the way of actual weather happening until now, as it is now raining outside as I write.

The result of this is that in the end, a total of just 1.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in that department since 1pm this afternoon.

As at 10pm tonight, a total of 2.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore go down as an official rain day as a result) along with 0.8 mm at the botanic gardens in in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 14.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as the temperatures during this afternoon refused to rise any further than what they were at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm was around 8°C.
