The spring borefest goes on here as it remains overcast with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 9.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it is slightly cooler than last night but still very mild.

After a very springlike day yesterday, cloudy and windy again this morning - but on the mild side at 9.4C

Horrendous grey mild crud again following a min of 8.2C. There is nothing more soul destroying than this woeful gloom.

Was colder yesterday afternoon at 7.4C than during the preceding and subsequent nights. Utter rot that I truly despise. So much for a fine settled spell.

Yet another dull, overcast, depressing and soul destroying start to yet another morning with yet more constant grey skies as our spring borefest goes on with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather, actually happening.

In addition to that, the wind has also picked up again with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank of up to 36.7mph from the SW as at 8am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 9.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 10.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has carried on in a dull and overcast note, and the result of this is that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

In addition to that, it has now started to rain here in Edinburgh as I write, and it also remains very windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank now gusting up to 39.1mph from the SSW as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The weather has been a little bit more interesting during this afternoon, but still not exactly exciting.

The main interest comes from the fact that the rain during this afternoon did become a bit heavier for a while, but it wasn't too long before that all cleared away which means that a total of just 1.0 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore, go down as an official rain day as a result) along with just 0.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That is all very tedious stuff to me, and is the main reason why this afternoon's weather is still not exactly all that exciting.

That is particularly true since there is still a lot of cloud around which means that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Nevertheless, it is also still very windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 33.6mph from the WSW at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the temperature then took a bit of a dip after the rain moved through and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The skies have gradually become clearer during this evening and there was a little bit of late sunshine just before sunset but in the end, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today the third completely sunless day of both this month and this spring.

Nevertheless, this clearance resulted in a nice looking red sky at around sunset which will be good news for tomorrow's weather prospects if the legend which goes with that is correct.

It's also not quite as windy as what it was earlier on, but it is still very windy nevertheless with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 29.8mph from the WSW at 8pm this evening.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 7.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it is already a bit cooler than of late tonight.
