I've rather enjoyed the seasonal Autumn experience, here in the SE Midlands. It's been lovely.

We're just over 24 hours away from the start of meteorological winter and it's around 11pm as I write this yet the temperature here in Edinburgh is up to 11°C.

Absolutely pathetic!!😡
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

A different autumn this year and one that I have enjoyed. We had a very wet and thundery September followed by a mixed but calm October with a couple of light frosts here. The long gloomy spell then began and continued well into November. Not had a spell like that for a long time. I recall them being common when I was growing up in the 1980s and they sometimes led to a cold spell. Like others have said, the leaf colours have been spectacular as the lack of dry summer weather and ongoing calmness meant the trees didn't drop so early. Even this morning on a rather warm dog walk I noticed there are still quite a few golden leaves on field maples and hazels, which highlight the now more noticeable hollies, yews and ivies.
The gloomy spell did end with a decent cold snap. No snow here but some seasonal frosts. Then all change last weekend with a couple of decent storms with some flooding rain to end a variable autumn. Quite appropriate to finish the season with another mild gloomy day today. Hoping for something of wintry interest in the coming season.

It has been a decent couple of weeks here too. We had a week of snow, some okay-ish days and then today is very mild, light winds, bright and mostly sunny. Altogether rather pleasant.  I have just been out for a walk and it felt very nice indeed.
