With rough calculations we need an average of about 16.2 for the last 10 days of the month to get a 17, making this the warmest month of this not-very-notable summer. Overall we could be looking at the first sub-16 summer since 2015. Using Birmingham's Met) forecast (which is not one of the 3 CET stations but within the triangle, and certainly representative of central England geographically) 16.7 is suggested for the next 8, including today, with the last two unforecasted days possibly able to bring the average to 17,which would give us a monthly of about 17.1°C. The summer would then roll out at about 15.8

Will be interesting to see the regional breaks for this August (and this summer). It feels like a very Westerly summer with decent weather in the South East and mediocre elsewhere. There have been a few like that in recent years. Virtually no Easterly spells with sea mist on North Sea coasts and high temperatures on the Welsh or North Devon coasts. Lots of days with national maxes in Norfolk or Kent.
