Warm summer expected

The TWO summer forecast covering the period June to August is now available here. The headline is for another warm summer with rainfall levels varying significantly locally, but generally below average. Will 100F be reached this summer? In our opinion this is very unlikely, although at times temperatures should rise above a scorching 90F.
There are likely to be some notable temperature contrasts during the next few months as we expect a tendency at times for high pressure to build further north (setting up a negative North Atlantic Oscillation - NAO) of the UK allowing some spells of cooler than average weather. On the other hand the near continent has had below average rainfall and the ground there is now very dry. This should facilitate rapid heating in the UK when the wind direction switches to the south or south east, as well as reducing the chances of the UK importing thunderstorms from France.
