Each day TWO record temperature data from various reporting stations around the UK. We take three of these and average them out to provide our own version of the Central England Temperature (CET) series which the Met Office produce and use as a benchmark to determine whether a month is warmer or colder than average. Since we started our own tracker it has proved generally reliable, although our figures do tend to produce a slightly higher average temperature than the official series does.
