The UK winter 2014/15 forecast headline is for a three course season. The starter is expected to be quite benign although cooler at times. The main course lasting from later in December until early February is forecast to be very unsettled with possibly quite a lot of snow in the north. The dessert at the end of the winter could be the sting in the tail. A winter more varied than last year's is expected, but one like 1947 isn't.

Over the 3 month period as a whole temperatures in the south are expected to be close to the average and in the north slightly below.

A more varied winter is expected than last year's but a repeat of 1947 isn't expected.
