Glastonbury 2014

Festival weather news

Issued 29/05/2014

The Glastonbury 2014 festival takes place from Wednesday 25th to Sunday 29th June, so it's still a long way off in weather terms. Is it too early to be talking about the prospects?

The medium range GFS/GEFS computer model products run out to 16 days ahead, so obviously these are still finishing their forecast periods before the festival begins. The data from these products in recent days has suggested changeable weather continuing for much of the first half of June.

There are other computer models which look further ahead, these include the US CFSv2 and the European ECM monthly forecast system. On our site you can view long range icon forecasts which are derived from CFSv2 data, the link for the Glastonbury area is:

The skill level or accuracy of these long range forecasting models is low for the UK and western Europe, and they are really best used for trying to identify possible trends rather than specifics.

The link to the local 16 day Glastonbury weather forecast is:

The 16 day forecasts on our site are updated 4 times every day to give you the very latest view.

Finally, remember it is much too early to be confident about the weather prospects for late June. Remember this if apocalyptic predictions start appearing in the media. At this stage a mud bath can't be ruled out, but neither can a heatwave.
