October 2008 snow in south England - Part 2

Introduction
To see snow falling in England during October is unusual. To see snow falling in southern England during October is very unusual.  To see snow falling and accumulating in southern England during October is extraordinary.  To see snow falling and settling in central London during October is almost unheard of!

See part 1 to read more information about the background to the snow event and to see more photos of it.

Berkhamsted woke up to a blanket of snow in October!

Temperatures were well below freezing point

Amazingly there was snow in Regents Park in central London too

Contrasting with the snow were vivid autumnal colours on the trees

Not as much snow as the Chilterns, but still a covering

Is it spring, autumn or winter?

So a truly amazing weather event. Snow on the ground in central London in October. A once in a lifetime event quite probably and all the more memorable for being so.
