Fine Sunday for many

[Updated 09:10 20/08/2017]

Fine weather

The next few days bring mixed weather but it will warm up in the south. During the second half of the week cooler, and at times wet conditions, return from the west.

Sunday begins with patchy outbreaks of rain in the south west but elsewhere it is mostly fine. Through the course of the day rain gradually spread across the south west, Wales and Northern Ireland, and it becomes increasingly heavy. Other areas have a lot of fine and sunny weather but during the second half of the day cloud amounts increase from the west.

Temperatures range from about 16C (61F) in the west to 23C (74F) in the east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet weather steadily pushes eastwards across the southern half of the UK. Scotland remains mostly dry.

Tomorrow the rain in southern England and Wales becomes patchy, and some bright spells are likely. In Northern Ireland further heavy outbreaks of rain return and they push into Scotland and northern England. It will be warm and humid in the south.

Tuesday should be warm and bright in the south but there could be scattered showers. In the north more prolonged outbreaks of rain are likely. During the middle part of the week cooler and showery conditions return from the west.

Buzz discusses the short term warm up due to the remnants of Hurricane Gert. The August Bank Holiday weather looks mixed and regular updates will be issued.
