The remnants of Hurricane Gert bring mixed weather in the next few days. It will turn warm in the south for a time next week but computer models now suggest a quick return to unsettled conditions.
Saturday starts showery in the north and west but elsewhere it is mostly dry. The rest of the day brings a mix of sunny spells and blustery showers with the heaviest ones in the north. During the afternoon they become more scattered and the south has a good deal of dry weather.
The combination of strong winds and top temperatures ranging from 12C (54F) in the north west to 21C (70F) in the south east makes it feel chilly for mid August. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight it becomes mostly dry. Under clearing skies it will be quite cool.
Tomorrow starts dry but cloud builds in the west. Outbreaks of rain spread into parts of the west as the remnants of Hurricane Gert begin shaping the weather. Other areas remain dry and in the east it should feel quite warm in sunny spells.
Gert's other impact will be to send temperatures soaring in the south early next week due to the tropical air embedded in it. On Tuesday 28C (82F) could be reached but central and northern areas are likely to have heavy rain.
