Fine weekend for many

[Updated 07:00 12/08/2017]

Meteor

The weekend will bring a good deal of dry and pleasantly warm weather. Next week it remains changeable.

Saturday starts with a few spots of rain in the south and showers in the north. This morning the cloud breaks and sunny spells develop widely. It remains mostly dry and bright during the afternoon but scattered showers continue in the north.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north to 22C (72F) in the south east. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight clear periods should make it possible to view the Perseids Meteor shower from much of the UK, although a bright moon won't help. The meteors will appear to radiate out from the constellation Perseus in the north east of the sky. It's close to the much more easily recognisable W-shaped Cassiopeia. Through the second half of the night there could be more cloud in the west.

Tomorrow morning warm sunny spells develop widely. During the course of the day cloud spreads in from the west and outbreaks of rain could reach Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it remains dry.

On Monday wet weather pushes northeastwards. In northern and western areas rain becomes heavy but the south and east should have a good deal of dry weather.

Buzz discusses the mid August period and our first tentative look ahead to winter 2017/18 has been issued.
