Cool and showery Saturday

[Updated 07:00 05/08/2017]

The weather remains changeable in the coming days. During the second half of next week a more settled period could develop as high pressure builds from the west.

Saturday begins with scattered showers and that sets the scene for the day ahead. This morning heavy showers push eastwards across southern and central regions. During the afternoon they clear from the west and brighter conditions return. The north has a mix of sunny spells and showers throughout the day.

It will be cool for early August with temperatures ranging from 13C (55F) in the far north west to 19C (66F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers continue in the west but elsewhere it becomes dry. Under clearing skies it will be chilly.

Tomorrow starts mostly dry but wet weather pushes into much of the north and west. Southern and eastern England remain mostly dry but cloud builds.

During Monday the wet weather slowly clears eastwards and showery conditions follow on behind. Tuesday and Wednesday look cool, showery and windy.

Buzz discusses the mid August period and our first tentative look ahead to winter 2017/18 has been issued.
