The weekend will bring showers or persistent outbreaks of rain to virtually all of the country. Next week the mixed weather continues.
Saturday starts fine across the southern half of the UK but in the north it's mixed with heavy showery rain in western Scotland. Through the day showers become widespread in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Central and northern England have scattered showers too, but there should be a good deal of dry weather. In southern counties cloud thickens and rain spreads eastwards.
Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the north to 21C (70F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet and windy weather pushes northeastwards across much of England and Wales. Showers continue in the north.
Tomorrow the persistent rain gradually pulls away but it could be slow to clear from the north east. Elsewhere a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers develops. Temperatures remain below the late July average.
On Monday and Tuesday the mixed theme continues but the showers should more scattered as a ridge of high pressure builds. During the middle of the week another low pressure is expected to move in from the Atlantic to bring a renewed risk of rain.
