An Atlantic flow is likely to remain over the UK during the next week. That means all regions have wet weather, but some drier and warmer interludes can be expected.
Tuesday starts damp in eastern England but elsewhere it is dry. Through the morning cloud breaks and sunny spells develop widely. The afternoon brings warm periods of sunshine to most areas but a few showers could bubble up. By the evening thicker cloud builds in the south west and outbreaks of rain return.
Maximum temperatures range from 17C (63F) in the north to a warm 25C (77F) in southern and central England. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight an area of persistent rain spreads across Northern Ireland and much of western Britain. The east remains dry.
Tomorrow wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across all regions. There will be some heavy and persistent spells of rain, especially in northern regions. Clearer and drier weather returns from the west during the second half of the day.
Thursday brings a mix of sunshine and showers. Most of the showers are likely to be in the north and west with the driest and brightest weather in the south east. The prospects for Friday and the weekend are mixed.
