The north has changeable weather in the next few days but the south will be mostly dry. Next week it becomes very warm but a thundery breakdown is expected.

Friday begins with scattered showers but it is predominantly dry. Through the course of the day sunny spells develop and generally it remains fine. The exception is the north west where thicker cloud brings outbreaks of rain this afternoon.

Temperatures range from 17C (63F) to 23C (73F) north to south. See the rainfall radar for the latest.

Tonight wet weather spreads eastwards across northern Britain. Central and southern regions remain dry.

Tomorrow patchy rain pushes southeastwards in central and northern areas. During the second half of the day another spell of wet and windy weather spreads into the north west. The south should be dry and it will be very warm where sunny spells develop.

On Sunday light spells of rain spread southwards, but during the day they fade away and the cloud breaks. It will be warm and humid in the south but cooler in the north.

It is high summer but our first autumn weather prospects discussion has been issued. Buzz investigates the mid term outlook.
