The south has a good deal of fine weather in the next few days but in the north it remains more mixed. Next week changeable conditions push southwards.
Friday begins with a few showers in the north but elsewhere it is dry. Through the course of the day patchy spells of rain spread eastwards across the northern half of the country. Southern and central regions stay dry and in the south east it will be hot. In the north west clearer and cooler air returns.
Temperatures range from 15C (59F) in the far north west to 30C (86F) in the south. See the rainfall and lightning radar for the latest.
Tonight showers in the north fade away but late in the night a few could affect Wales and western England. Other areas remain dry.
Tomorrow will be fine and sunny in much of the UK but scattered showers are possible in the south. In the far north west wet weather returns later on. Temperatures will be down on recent values in the south.
Sunday brings more fine and warm weather but thundery showers are expected to develop across southern and central areas. In northern England and Northern patchy outbreaks of rain are likely, but brighter conditions return to Scotland. Buzz checks the thundery Thursday storm risk.
