Hot and thundery conditions will push up from the south in the next few days. In the longer term it looks changeable but the Azores high pressure should bring the south a good deal of fine weather.
Tuesday begins wet in Northern Ireland and across much of northern England. The band of rain will be slow moving today but this afternoon brighter conditions begin returning from the west. Southern and central regions remain dry, and in the south warm sunny spells develop. Scotland also has bright but cooler conditions.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the wet areas to 26C (78F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest.
Tonight the rain in the north slowly pulls away eastwards, but in north eastern England it continues through the night. It will be warm and muggy in the south.
Tomorrow a few showers develop in the north but elsewhere a fine day is in prospect. Temperatures could reach a very warm 27C (81F) in the south. Late in the day thunderstorms may pop up in the south west.
Thursday looks hot in the south but torrential downpours and thunderstorms become increasingly widespread. Showers are also possible in the north.
During Friday rain affects the north west but elsewhere a fine day is expected, and it will be very warm or hot in the south. Through the weekend cooler conditions push southeastwards. Buzz looks at the storm risk.
