July forecast issued

[Updated 12:35 01/07/2017]

Fair weather

There will be some wet weather this weekend but for most of the UK the prospects are reasonable. Next week it turns warmer from the south but the risk of thundery showers increases.

Saturday starts damp start in the south east but elsewhere it is dry and bright. This morning a band of thicker cloud brings patchy rain to the north west of the UK and through the afternoon it pushes southeastwards. Showers are likely in the west  but other areas should remain dry.

Temperatures range from about 14C (57F) in northern Scotland to 22C (72F) in south eastern England. See the rainfall radar for the latest.

Tonight showers affect southern England and north western Scotland. Elsewhere it will be mostly dry with clear spells.

Tomorrow the south east probably has a wet start, but it quickly turns drier and sunny spells develop widely. In Scotland and Northern Ireland heavy showers break out, and it will be windy.

On Monday showers are likely in the north and west. Cloud amounts vary but the south and east probably have the best of the sunshine.

Buzz looks at the medium term outlook. The TWO July forecast has been issued and the headline is for a better than average month.
