Fair weekend weather

[Updated 7:30 30/06/2017]

Fair weather

High pressure will build from the south west in the coming days. That leads to an increasing chance of drier and warmer periods, especially in the south.

Friday begins with showery rain in the north and south west of the UK. Elsewhere it is dry and there are breaks in the cloud cover. Through the course of the day sunny spells develop, and the rain in the north and west turns patchy. This afternoon scattered thundery showers could break out in southern and central England.

Temperatures range from about 12C (54F) in northern Scotland to 21C (70F) in south eastern England. See the rainfall radar for the latest.

Tonight showers fade away and it becomes mostly dry with clear spells.

Tomorrow England and Wales have a dry and bright day. In Scotland and Northern Ireland cloud builds and wet weather returns. Through the evening and night the rain spreads southeastwards but it becomes increasingly patchy. On Sunday heavy showers affect Scotland and possibly Northern Ireland, but elsewhere the emphasis is on dry and quite warm weather. Buzz looks ahead to July.
