Barbecues or brollies?

The weekend will bring mixed weather. Next week looks unsettled with a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain.

The weekend is off to a damp start in the south, and blustery showers are affecting the north west. Through the day sunny spells develop but patchy outbreaks of rain push eastwards across the south. Showers continue in the north.

Southern counties have quite a warm day with maximum temperatures around 22C (72). The north west will be much cooler and strong to gale force winds will make it feel chilly for late June. See the rainfall radar for the latest.

Tonight it remains windy and showery in the far north, and in the south there could be some light outbreaks of rain. Elsewhere it should be dry.

Tomorrow scattered showers affect the north. The south remains mostly dry and in sunny spells it will feel quite pleasant.

During Monday heavy outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across much of the north and west. The south and far north of the UK should remain drier with bright spells. On Tuesday warm and humid air from the continent and this could be the catalyst for widespread downpours and thunderstorms to form. Buzz takes a look at the mid term weather prospects.
