Euro monsoon part deux

[Updated 6:45 23/06/2017]

Fair weather

June will be remembered as a month of big contrasts. This week saw the the hottest June day since 1976 but next week is looking notably unsettled as the European Monsoon returns.

This morning it is a mixed picture. Wet weather is affecting parts of northern England and Wales, but areas to the north and south are dry. Through the day the rain slowly pushes southwards and although it becomes patchier some heavy bursts continue in the west. Central southern England and the south east remain dry and bright. Scotland and Northern Ireland also have sunny spells.

The south east has quite a warm day with temperatures close to 25C (77F). Farther north and west it will be cooler and windy. See the rainfall radar for the latest.

Tonight intermittent outbreaks of rain push into the south and showers develop in the north west. Elsewhere it stays dry with clear spells.

Tomorrow most areas have reasonable weather but showers break and they could be heavy at times in the north and west. It will be windy in the north. Sunday brings a few showers but brighter spells too.

During Monday wet and windy weather spreads southeastwards. In the north west heavy rain is likely. Buzz takes a look at the mid term weather prospects.
