[Updated 08:00 04/06/2017]

All regions will see showers or longer spells of rain in the coming days. There are signs of more settled weather returning towards the middle of June.

Sunday begins wet in the south west but elsewhere it is mostly dry. During the course of the day showery rain spreads eastwards across southern and central areas. Heavy and thundery showers also affect Scotland and Northern Ireland. There will be sunny spells too with the best of them expected to be in eastern and north eastern England.

Maximum temperatures range from 12C (54F) in western Scotland to 20C (68F) in the south east. See the rainfall and lightning radar and UK weather report map for the latest.

Tonight it becomes mostly dry for a time, but heavy outbreaks of rain push northeastwards to affect the south west, Wales and much of northern England by the end of the night. Winds strengthen and in the west reach gale force.

Tomorrow heavy outbreaks of rain in the north and west slowly eastwards, reaching the south east late in the day. It will be very windy in the south with gales near the coast. Brighter conditions return to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The TWO summer forecast is now online. Buzz takes a look at the first half of June.
