The weekend will bring a mix of sunshine and showers. Wet weather is expected at times next week as low pressure remains close to the north west of the UK.
Friday begins with heavy outbreaks of rain in Wales, as well as northern and western parts of England. During the course of the day the rain steadily pushes eastwards. Although it becomes patchy some heavy bursts are likely, and in the south east thunderstorms develop. Clearer and fresher conditions follow on behind in the north west.
Maximum temperatures range from 15C (59F) in western Scotland to a humid 26C (78F) in the south east. See the rainfall and lightning radar and UK weather report map for the latest.
Tonight wet weather continues to affect the south eastern corner. Elsewhere it should be dry.
Tomorrow morning any rain left in the south east quickly clears to leave all regions dry and bright. During the course of the day showers bubble up in northern and western regions. It will be cooler than recently in the south.
Sunday brings bright spells and showers. In Scotland and Northern Ireland outbreaks of rain could become persistent during the second half of the day.
