Mixed weather continues

[Updated 05:40 01/06/2017]

Fair weather

The medium term outlook is changeable. All regions will have wet weather at times as we head into the European Monsoon season.

Thursday begins overcast and murky in much of the country. During the course of the day sunny spells develop across England and Wales. In Northern Ireland and Scotland cloud thickens and outbreaks of rain arrive.

Maximum temperatures range from 12C (54F) in western Scotland to a warm 24C (74F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rainfall radar and UK weather report map for the latest.

Tonight wet weather gradually edges southeastwards reaching Wales and north western parts of England by the morning. Behind it clearer and fresher conditions return, but to the south it remains dry and muggy.

Tomorrow the wet weather pushes eastwards and there is the potential for thunderstorms to develop in the south east. In the northern and western areas showers are likely, and it will be cooler.

The weekend looks mixed. Rain clears from the south east early on Saturday to leave cooler and showery conditions. Sunday brings bright spells and showers but in the north west more prolonged outbreaks of rain could return during the afternoon.

The TWO summer forecast is now online. Buzz takes a look at the first half of June.
