Thunderstorms and rain spread northwards during the next 36 hours. Through the rest of the week high pressure should bring a good deal of fine weather to the south and east, but the north and west remain changeable.
Sunday begins with patchy outbreaks of rain in Scotland but they clear away this morning. Elsewhere sunny spells develop but it will be cloudy at times. This afternoon thicker cloud builds in the south and thundery showers develop in the south west.
Temperatures range from about 18C (64F) in Scotland to a very warm 27C (81F) in the south east. See the rainfall and lightning radar and UK weather report map for the latest view.
During the evening and overnight thundery downpours spread northwards. By the morning they reach central and northern areas. Torrential rain is expected with the worst conditions probably affecting the west.
Tomorrow the wet weather pushes into Scotland. Behind it there will be a lot of cloud but some bright spells could develop. As temperatures rise further storms may break out in the south.
On Tuesday outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards but they become light and patchy. Wednesday should be fine in the south east but showery rain is likely in the north and west. Buzz looks ahead to June.
