Summery and warm week

[Updated 07:00 22/05/2017]

Sunny day

High pressure will bring fine and increasingly warm weather during the coming days. Despite this there is uncertainty about the Bank Holiday weekend.

This morning it's mostly dry but wet weather is affecting parts of the north west. Through the day rain pushes eastwards across the north of the UK and in the west it becomes heavy. The south remains dry with sunny spells.

Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in Scotland to 22C (72F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the rain clears from Scotland to leave all areas dry. It will be a mild.

Tomorrow wet weather pushes into the north west of the UK. Elsewhere a pleasant day is expected but in the south an odd light showers is possible.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday bring fine and warm weather to most of the country. Temperatures will be climbing and they could reach 27C (81F) in a few places.

By the weekend low pressure to the southwest of the UK comes into play, but its impact is uncertain. It may bring rain to the north west but also pull up a plume of even warmer air from southern Europe. This would push temperatures in the south east up towards 30C (86F). An alternative scenario is for it to track farther east bringing heavy showers and cooler air.
