Mixed end to May

[Updated 07:20 18/05/2017]

Fair weather

Heavy rain has cleared from the east overnight to leave a dry start to Thursday. The outlook for the coming days is mixed.

Today sunny spells develop but showers will break out, and although a few heavy ones are possible many places could escape them. This afternoon cloud builds in central and south eastern areas, and wet weather pushes into Kent and Essex.

It will feel cooler and fresher than recently with temperatures ranging from 12C (54F) in the north west to a 16C (61F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight heavy outbreaks of rain spread northwards across areas to the east of London. Elsewhere it stays mainly dry.

Tomorrow persistent rain continues in north eastern coastal areas. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells but showers become widespread and heavy.

The weekend looks changeable. All areas have see heavy showers on Saturday, but Sunday should bring drier and warmer conditions to the south.

Buzz looks the mid term outlook. Also keep up to date with the latest weather prospects for the Spring Bank Holiday on May 29th .
