[Updated 06:45 13/05/2017]

Umbrellas

The weekend is off to a mixed start. There are showery outbreaks of rain in places with the heaviest and most persistent ones in the north west.

Through Saturday rain in north western regions steadily pushes northwards. Elsewhere some warm sunny spells develop but scattered showers break out. By late afternoon wet weather spreads into the south west of England.

In sunny spells it feels quite warm with temperatures this afternoon around 18C (64F). See the rain and lightning strikes radar for the latest view.

Tonight a band of rain pushes eastwards across much of the UK. It is expected to be heaviest in northern England but even southern counties could see between 4mm and 6mm of rain.

Tomorrow start off dry and bright. During the course of the day showers pop up, and they may become heavy and thundery. It will feel quite warm and humid.

On Monday rain spreads eastwards. In central and northern areas it is expected to be heavy but in the south it may not amount to much. On Tuesday it warms up across the south, but the latest guidance suggests cooler will return from the northwest quite quickly.

The second half of the week will be changeable and there is the potential for further rain. Buzz looks ahead to mid May.
