Heavy shower

Friday begins murky with wet weather in central England and Wales. Across Northern Ireland and western Scotland there are heavy showers.

Through the day a patchy band of rain in central areas steadily push northwards, reaching northern England in the afternoon. Behind it a mixed picture develops. In the west some heavy spells of rain are likely and they may extend into Northern Ireland. Elsewhere sunny spells make it feel warm and humid, but also lead to scattered thunderstorms. Scotland has a mostly dry and bright day

In the south east and north west of the UK temperatures could reach 20C (68F). Maximum values in cloudy and wet areas will be lower. See the rain and lightning strikes radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet weather affects the north and west, but the south and east become dry. It will be a muggy.

Tomorrow showery rain continues in the west of the UK. Elsewhere a bright morning is expected but thundery showers could pop up in central and eastern areas during the afternoon. Overnight a band of rain spreads eastwards and clears. Sunday brings showery conditions.

On Monday outbreaks of rain spread eastwards and they will be heavy in central and northern areas. Towards mid-week it warms up in the south, but latest guidance suggests cooler air quickly returns from the northwest. Buzz looks ahead to mid May.
