The new working week is off to a dry start but in the east there is a lot of cloud. A change in the weather is expected in the coming days.
Today sunny spells develop widely in central and western regions. Eastern districts have more cloud this morning and a few spots of rain are possible. This afternoon the chance of brighter intervals increases.
Temperatures will be down on the values of recent days ranging from about 15C (59F) in the north west to 11C (52F) in the east. See the postcode forecasts and rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight under clear periods there is a risk of an air frost in the north and west. Locally in the south a ground frost is possible if cloud cover breaks sufficiently.
Tomorrow it remains dry. Sunny spells should be more extensive than today and it will be warmer. On Wednesday rain could affect central and northern Scotland but elsewhere it stays dry.
From Thursday onwards a change takes place as areas of low pressure to the northwest and southwest become the dominant features of our weather. Temperatures rise but showers pushes up from the south. By Friday the rain could become heavy and thundery, especially in the south west. At this stage there is uncertainty and the wet weather could be quite hit and miss.
Buzz looks ahead to mid May.
