Best in the north west

[Updated 07:20 02/05/2017]

Fair weather

Usually the north west isn't where the warmest and sunniest weather is found, but it will be in the coming days. The reason is high pressure centred to the north of the UK.

Today it starts dry and through the morning sunny spells develop widely. Cloud bubbles up in central and eastern areas, and this afternoon showers break out. A few of them could be heavy.

In the west temperatures reach a pleasantly warm 18C (64F), but it will be cooler in the east. See the postcode forecasts and rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showery rain continues in East Anglia and the south eastern corner. Elsewhere it stays dry and clear periods form.

Tomorrow southern areas are likely to be chilly and cloudy with patchy spells of rain in the east. Farther north and west it's a dry, bright and warm day.

During the rest of the week little changes. Most areas have fine weather, but in the south it will be cloudier with a risk of showery rain at times. In the sun it feels warm, but where the cloud lingers temperatures remain lower. Buzz looks ahead to mid May.
