The May Day Bank Holiday begins wet in Wales, south western and central England. Elsewhere it is mostly dry.
During the course of the day it turns drier in central areas but it remains quite cloudy. In the south west outbreaks of rain continue, and this afternoon the risk of heavy showers extends across southern counties. The north has a fine day, and there will be some sunny spells in the south east too.
Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the wet areas to 18C (64F) in Northern Ireland and the north west. See the postcode forecasts and rain radar for the latest view.
Tonight the wet weather in the south pulls away to leave all regions night. It will be quite mild.
During tomorrow and Wednesday the risk of showery rain continues in southern and eastern England. Other parts of the UK stay dry with sunny spells.
The rest of the week looks mainly dry but there is an ongoing chance of scattered showers in the south and east. An easterly flow means the brightest and warmest conditions will be in the west and north west. Nonetheless it will feel pleasant wherever sunny spells develop. Buzz looks at mid term outlook.
