The weekend weather is looking reasonable, but early next week winter is set to return. Today scattered showers affect the north and east of the UK, but central and western areas stay dry. Over high ground in the north the showers could fall as snow. Most places will have sunny spells with the best conditions in the south and west.
Temperatures range from a cold 7C (45F) in the north to 15C (59F) in the south west. See the radar for the latest view.
Tonight under clear skies it will be cold. A widespread frost is likely and even in the south temperatures may dip below freezing point.
Tomorrow an odd shower is possible in the south but it will be mostly fine. Across the north cloud builds and winds strengthen. During the second half of the day rain pushes into the north west.
On Monday a band of wet weather pushes southwards. Colder conditions follow into the north and wintry showers develop. During Tuesday and Wednesday a cold Arctic airstream brings a mix of sunshine and wintry showers. In the north significant snow is possible. Nighttime frosts become widespread and they could cause problems for farmers and growers. Buzz investigates.

The 16 day GEFS shows a cold and showery snap between 25th and 28th April. Temperatures then recover and rain is more likely in the north.
