Rain spreading southeast

[Updated 07:50 16/04/2017]

Easter eggs

Easter Sunday begins with outbreaks of rain in the north west. Elsewhere it is dry.

Through the day wet weather spreads southeastwards, reaching much of central and northern Britain by the early afternoon. Southern England and north eastern Scotland remain dry and bright. This evening the rain pushes into East Anglia and possibly the south east. Clearer conditions follow on from the northwest.

Temperatures will be disappointing, ranging from 8C (46F) in the far north west to 15C (59F) in the south east. See the radar for the latest view.

Tonight patchy spells of rain gradually clear southeastwards. In the north clear periods lead to a widespread frost.

Tomorrow starts bright and cold in the north, but in the south a cloudier scene is expected. Sunny spells develop, but in the north east wintry showers are likely. It will be cold and a widespread frost returns overnight.

During the middle of the week high pressure brings a lot of fine weather but the nights remain cold. Next weekend another plunge of cold air could sweep down from the north. Buzz looks at the short term frost risk.
