[Updated 06:55 14/04/2017]

Easter eggs

Good Friday begins dry in southern and central regions but patchy outbreaks of rain are affecting the north. Through the day rain steadily spread southeastwards, reaching central England and southern Wales this afternoon. Clearer skies return to the north but showers develop and over the Scottish mountains they fall as snow. The south probably stays dry until the evening.

Maximum temperatures range from a cold 7C (45F) in the far north west to 15C (59F) near the south coast. See the radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow brings showers to central and northern regions, but the south has a mostly dry day. All regions have sunny spells. Easter Sunday starts with rain in the north west and during the day this it southeastwards, possibly reaching southern counties in the afternoon. Easter Monday looks showery in the north and east, but the west should be dry. It will be quite cold for mid April.

High pressure is set to bring a good deal of dry weather next week. After a cold start daytime temperatures pick up, but the nights remain chilly. Buzz looks at the ongoing possibility of frost.
