Fine and warm weekend

[Updated 07:00 07/04/2017]

Bluebells

Friday begins with light rain in northern Scotland but elsewhere it is fine. It is chilly with a touch of frost in places.

The rest of the day brings a good deal of dry weather, but spells of light rain continue in northern Scotland. Long sunny periods develop in most areas but it remains cloudier in Scotland.

Temperatures range from 10C (52F) in Scotland to 17C (63F) in east England. See the radar for the latest view.

Tonight it stays dry. Clear spells lead to mist and a localised ground frost.

The weekend prospects look good. Tomorrow most areas have a warm and sunny day, but there will be more cloud in the far north west. The Grand National at Aintree should be run under sunny skies and conditions look great for a barbecue. On Sunday showery rain in the north west slowly spread southeastwards. Central and southeastern England hangs on to fine weather, and it will be very warm with temperatures peaking at close to 22C (72F) in the east.

Early next week it turns more changeable and in the north it could become cold enough for showers to turn wintry at times. Despite this southern and central regions probably won't have much rain. Buzz looks ahead to Easter.

Outdoor season

The outdoor season is here again. In the short term there's the new F1 season and the Grand National. If you'd like something added to our summer event weather calendar please contact us.

The 16 day GEFS show dry weather in the short term. Next week it turns cooler and changeable but the south doesn't have much rain.
