High pressure takes control

[Updated 06:50 24/03/2017]

Friday begins with outbreaks of rain in south western England. Elsewhere it's mostly dry and clear skies overnight in the north have led to a frost.

This morning wet weather affects the south west and there could be some patchy rain in northern Scotland too. Elsewhere it will be dry. Through the afternoon it becomes dry in the south west and sunny spells develop widely, although Scotland probably keeps cloudier skies.

It will be milder than recent days with temperatures ranging from about 10C (52F) in Scotland to 15C (59F) in the south. See the radar for the latest view.

Tonight it stays dry across the UK. Clear spells lead to quite a widespread frost.

Tomorrow after a cold and misty start a good deal of bright and mild weather is likely. In the sunshine it will feel pleasantly warm. Sunday looks similar but near the east coast it could be cloudier and cooler.

The latest guidance for next week is suggesting a more uncertain outlook. The most probable outcome is for high pressure to bring quite a lot of dry and pleasantly warm weather to the south and east. Northern and western regions have a increasing risk of rain, and the chance of the more changeable weather pushing southeastwards isn't discounted.

Buzz looks ahead to the next couple of weeks.
