Fine and bright for many

Spring blossom

Wednesday start dry across most of the UK, but in the far north west there is some patchy rain. There is a lot of low cloud cover and in places it is foggy.

As we head through the day the murk steadily lifts and sunny spells develop across England and Wales. In Scotland and Northern Ireland winds strengthen and during the afternoon cloud thickens. Some patchy rain is likely and in the far north it could become quite heavy.

Temperatures range from about 10C (50F) in Scotland to 17C (63F) in the south. See the radar for the latest view.

Tonight central and eastern England remain dry with clear spells. In the north and west thicker cloud brings the risk of damp conditions. It will be windy in Scotland.

Tomorrow rain in the north slowly pushes southeastwards and becomes patchier. Clearer conditions follow on from the north west, but showers develop in western Scotland. Southern regions stay dry for much of the day, but thicker cloud could bring a few spots of rain later on.

Friday sees wet and windy weather moving southwards. In the north it turns colder and showery, and over high ground there is a risk of snow.

The weekend is set to be mixed. Through Saturday rain eases off, but it probably remains cloudy and damp. Northern and western areas have wet weather on Sunday, but drier periods are more likely in the south and east.

Buzz looks ahead to April.

Ensembles at a glance

The 16 day GEFS shows a mixed outlook. All regions have a risk of rain, but the wettest conditions are focused on the north west. Temperatures fluctuate but are often above the average.
